FIXABLE.
Leaking when you laugh, cough, or jump. Pressure or heaviness in the pelvis. Pain that your doctor says is normal after having kids or getting older. These symptoms are common — but they are not something you just have to live with. Pelvic floor PT fixes what Kegels alone never will.

Understanding the Condition
WHAT IS PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION?
Pelvic floor dysfunction occurs when the muscles of the pelvic floor are too weak, too tight, or poorly coordinated — producing symptoms ranging from incontinence and prolapse to pelvic pain and painful intercourse. The pelvic floor is a muscle group like any other — it can be assessed, treated, and strengthened.
Hypertonic (Too Tight): Pelvic floor muscles that are overactivated or in chronic tension — producing pelvic pain, painful intercourse, urgency, and incomplete emptying. Treated with release techniques and downtraining.
Hypotonic (Too Weak): Insufficient pelvic floor strength and coordination — producing stress incontinence and contributing to prolapse. Treated with progressive strengthening and coordination training.
Mixed Dysfunction: Elements of both hypertonic and hypotonic dysfunction — common after childbirth or in active women. Requires skilled assessment to identify which is driving symptoms.
Post-Partum Dysfunction: Following vaginal or cesarean delivery. Pelvic floor, abdominals, and core have all been significantly altered and need systematic rehabilitation.
Treatment Approach
HOW WE TREAT IT
Pelvic floor PT requires a Doctor of PT with specialized training. Dr. Kira Estelle is our pelvic floor specialist — every session is 1-on-1 and comprehensive, addressing the pelvic floor in the context of the whole body.
01
Comprehensive Assessment
Internal and external assessment of pelvic floor function, strength, and coordination. Identify whether the primary dysfunction is hypertonic, hypotonic, or mixed.
02
Targeted Treatment
Manual therapy, biofeedback, release techniques, and progressive strengthening tailored to your specific presentation — not a generic Kegel program.
03
Functional Integration
Return to exercise, sport, and daily activity with a pelvic floor that works — including the breathing mechanics and intra-abdominal pressure management that protects the pelvic floor under load.
Typical Timeline6–12 weeks for most presentations. Significant improvement is typically seen within 4–6 sessions.
